Definition

Brand awareness is the extent to which your target market knows your brand exists and what you do. Measured as aided awareness (do they recognize the name when shown?) and unaided awareness (do they bring you up unprompted?). High brand awareness compounds: easier hiring, lower CAC, higher conversion, premium pricing. Building brand awareness takes years and consistent investment - content, PR, social presence, customer advocacy. For service businesses, brand awareness in a tight niche often beats broad fame - being the #1 known name to 5,000 ideal prospects beats being vaguely recognized by 5 million.
